For Coco by LDOTT For Coco by LDOTT
Well I finally finished this excruciatingly time consuming necklace.

This is a rigid spiraling peyote tube. As far as I can tell the original base pattern was created by Aleta Ford Baker. I built on the original pattern by making the spiral a lot wider and adding the Japanese drop beads.

Made from lots and lots of black and clear silver lined seed beads. And of course silver Japanese drop beads.

PS: I know that neither Coco Chanel or Audrey Hepburn would wear this, but I can't help thinking of them when I look at it.

What size beads did you use for this? because Ive been trying
to do a wider spiral and I just can't get it right.

Dear Flavia,

I used size 12 seed beads which were cheaper (I knew I would need ALOT to finish this one) however from memory the original pattern used size 11.  In order to make it wider you have to start with more beads.  My base ring for this monster had 24 beads!

The original pattern by Aleta Ford Baker is in Bead & Button October 2005 and there was a follow up by Annette Mackrel with new designs in Bead & Button April 2010.

I hope this helps.  If you need more help, there is a tutorial for sale by the creator on her Etsy shop here www.etsy.com/au/listing/127253…

I'd love to think that either Coco or Audrey would have worn this, given the opportunity. Coco Chanel said 'take a look at what you're wearing and remove one accessory.' This would be the last one to consider removing.

Aw thanks. I thought it might have been a bit too chunky/big statement for them, but I just know they would have loved the colours!
